In This Economy ...

I love the motion in this shot.  I can still feel the cool ocean spray upon my face as I press the shutter button on the camera and the hand of my husband, around my waist, as he pulls me back to safety once again.

[Maybe, more of my recent trip photos to come shortly?????  I've hidden all of my photo ablums once posted here ... since Christmas 2010 ... but as of today I'm back on the map again.]

A Poem for my Daughters

I've been thinking a lot about what is truly important in  my life these days ... and my three daughters come unquestionably to the forefront of my thoughts.  They truly make my world go around.  So in honor of my daughters, I am posting this poem here just for them.  =)

Cloud Parade

Whimsical clouds dancing merrily by
In a newly awakened (springtime) twilight sky.
Seem to be calling out to me:
Stop for a moment and just BE!!

Pause for a moment or two, I do,
With ever the slightest hesitation.
Intrigued by Mother Nature's invitation
To enjoy this cumulo-nimbus celebration.

Lay me down in the cool, wet grass.
Deciding not to let this moment pass.
Kick off my pointy shoes.
Thinking I've got nothing to lose?
Look up into the sleepy sky.
Watch a bevy
Of whispy clouds drift by.
The sky's eyelids grow heavy,
As oranges and reds give way
To transcendent hues
Of ever-deepening shades of blues.

Playful clouds hop, jump and skip.
Pause and bite my lower lip ...
As childhood emotions stir.
Memories of simpler days.
Remember how we used to play?
Or has it now become a blur?
What do you see?
I see a sailboat, a dancing butterfly.
A bluebird, a whispering willow tree.

Azure gives way to indigo, while
Clouds drift off to peaceful sleep.
Mystery and magic arise from slumber.
Leaving me alone ...
Reclined in the cool,
Nighttime grass
Filled once again with a
Childhood sense of wonder.

Puff, The Magic Dragon

The Sun finally broke through today and shown in all of its dazzling brilliance. Illuminating shadows, and beginning to chase the darkness away.

Cloud Photo, By ME

I spent some time looking up today and I think that I found Puff, The Magic Dragon ... dancing joyfully up in the clouds over the Puget Sound this day.

What do you see?

Here's What I See ...

I loved this song when I was kid.  I used to have a little lime green record player and I played this record all the time.  Magic, mystery and hope ... I think that these  all go hand in hand.  We should never be too old to pause for a moment and simply look up ... to renew and be filled once again with a sense of wonder.

Ring  around the rosey ... A pocket full of posey?

London Bridge is falling down ...
Ashes, ashes ... We all fall down!

We knew it when were kids ... Sometimes, "We all fall down" ... Right?  But when we were kids, you just brushed yourself off and got right back up again ... We grown-ups could take a lesson from the little ones on this, I think.  Not to be so hard on ourselves when we do happen to fall.  The fall may be further as a grown-up, but the underlying principle remains the same:  brush yourself off and get back in the game ...

More of my cloud photos from today on my Flickr page:

Remember the game you played when you were a kid (or still play in my case : ) ... What do you see in the clouds?  Well, I found a baby whale today ...

Don't really have time to be writing right now, but I wanted to make an upbeat post in honor of Easter, this upcoming Sunday.  I am going in for surgery on Friday, April 2nd ... so I won't be able to write again until after Easter, and I didn't want my last post to be my cemetery photos.

So Happy (early) Easter, one and all!

May the joy of the Creator's Love, in His willingness to sacrifice His Son for our redemption, fill your heart and inspire you to share your light with others.  Peace, blessings ... and much love heading your way.  : )

Heaven touched the Earth today ...

Sunset from my bedroom balcony ... 12/28/2009 ...
A fitting pre-cursor to the close of a remarkable decade ...

1/19/2010 Finally found a photography class that is reasonably priced and covers topics I'm interested in exploring.  It's a month long evening course with some weekend field trips, but you get hands on experience with the pros.  There's even a final exam and I get a certificate at then end.  I can't wait!  : )  Hopefully, some much better photos are coming your way ... [A new lens for Christmas 200x and not fully understanding depth of field implications for this news lens ... coupled with not wanting to miss this incredible sunset ... and hence not swapping the lens out for a lesser magnification ... resulted in the lack of cloud detail seen in these photos ... I could kick myself now, but what can you do?  Live and learn ... emphasis on LEARN!  ; ) ]
