Black, White, fading shades of Grey ....

Had the strangest dream the other night … I was in a black and white, with shades of grey, 2-D world. Almost like I was a charcoal pencil sketch. The scenery was that of a post-Autumn landscape, with barren tree branches and fallen leaves blowing wildly about.

"Boreas", By John William Waterhouse
(converted to black and white)

In this dream, I was walking along a deserted street just before sunset, I think, when a fierce wind began to blow. The wind was icy cold, making it hard to breath when you faced into it so I turned my back away from the wind and wrapped my arms around me in an effort to stay warm. Then almost out of no where I felt a warm inner glow light inside me and I was able to stand up straight once again and unwrap my arms. Suddenly, the wind no longer felt icy and I was able to turn into the wind. I found myself smiling, with such a sense of inner peace as I faced the wind head-on, radiating with an inner glow. And as the wind blew, my physical body began to disolve and break into tiny little pieces that scattered in many different directions with the various gusts of wind, entering into dimensions beyond the 2-D world in which my physical body had been confined, constrained … little lanterns of light born upon the winter winds.

Think this is what the dance with Death will be like for me, maybe?

12/7/2012 ...Early, early morning hours ... Been thinking a bit more about black, white and shades of grey.  The latter --black, white and grey, in art as well as life-- seems to be in the forefront of my thoughts and dreams these days.  Having really bad headaches lately, thus I am taking some opiate derivative for pain as a prescription medication --apparently opiates don't have the adverse side effect of thinning the blood?  So maybe my thoughts and pondering are a bit swayed by the medication?  But sitting here tonight, it occurs to me that perhaps 'black' is denial or outright despair while 'white' is hope and infinite possibility (light, in it's purest form) ... the shades of grey are just the difference in between.  Sound plausible?

Lacking Pretense ...

"Some lose all mind and become soul, insane.
Some lose all soul and become mind, intellectual.
Some lose both and become accepted.”

~Charles Bukowski

Listening to my favorite 70's era tunes on my Spotify playlist right now.  Think that's why I love this music so much:  it's completely lacking in pretense.  "Don't Fear the Reaper" ... Blue Oyster Cult.  Love this song!  Hmmm ... Death has no pretense.  He employs no guise or means of deceit ... Death is perhaps the one truth we all share?  I happened to write a poem about dealing with the loss of a loved one the other day.  It's titled "Empty Chair."  Perhaps I'll share it with you here one day ... Me, I'm perfectly at ease with Death.  As I've said before, Death and Isabelle are old friends.  There are many types of death to my way of thinking and I suppose that's fitting, seeing as there are conversely many types of love.  It's all about balance, is it not?

Power of LOVE: Hope for Mankind ...

I have been thinking a lot about Death lately, for personal reasons. I just feel the circle of the dance with Death closing its distance upon me for some reason. But no worries:  I am not afraid of Death. He and I are old friends. … Anyhow, I guess, that my thoughts on Death were enhanced by the celebration of Easter and contemplating Jesus’s willingness to die, on the cross, for our sins.

Jesus's willingness to die for our sins:  that is truly some gift to give to bestow upon mankind, is it not? And clearly, this was not a gift bestowed because of our worthiness, but rather it was a gift given of pure selflessness … bestowed for no other rather reason than sheer and unconditional ♥LOVE ♥ .

… “Unconditional”… I wonder how many of us can honestly say that we apply this criteria to our dealings with others in our own lives? With everything that is going on in the world today, all of the chaos, sin and corruption. Sometimes, I wonder what it would take to “save” the world today? What about just saving a piece of the world in some small way? I wonder, if I were called to give my life as a sacrifice to save the lives of others –even just a few lives … maybe even the lives of total strangers—would I be willing answer this call? Would you?

After much thought and contemplation, I think, I can honestly say that I would be willing to sacrifice my own life … even if it would change or save just one life. I guess, at my core, I have a unyielding belief in man’s capacity for good ... and this despite everything that I have been through in my own life.

Well maybe reading these thoughts gives you HOPE for this world of ours after all?  There are good people in this world, and I’d like to think that the good people outnumber the bad influences and corruption. Maybe that’s naive, but I like to look at it as having Hope for mankind. Maybe Hope and Faith (and alot of prayer!), tide you over until the Power of Love overcomes the Love of Power … And a wise man once said:

“When the Power of Love overcomes the Love of Power,
then the world will know true Peace.” ~Jimi Hendrix

Now that would be SOME WORLD to live in ...

P.S.  In case you were wondering my words are still flowing.  I'd say I'm about halfway through with the new novel.  Channeling this one has been quite a ride thus far.  At this rate, I could finish my write by the end of summer.  Wouldn't that be something? Well, you know me: ever hopeful ... "the hopeless dreamer" as I have often been called, but I don't mind.  I couldn't live in a world void of dreams, even if that means that the bad dreams come hand in hand with the good dreams. Joyful day ya'll! =)

For a Beautiful Soul ...

God Bless you ... Fare thee well, sweet and beautiful soul.  All will be well here in this life.  Go in peace, onward to embrace you next great adventure.  Carry not sorrow, nor regret, but thankfulness for blessings you were so fortunate to have shared on this leg of your spiritual journey.  Somehow, I sense this is a song you wanted to hear.  I had never listened to the music of Joan Baez.  Thank you for the introduction.  Peace, Love and Be Well, my friend.  My thoughts and prayers will be with you and with your loved ones still to complete their journey in this here and now.  Know that our loved ones are never truly far from us in the presence of spirit and in our hearts.

Song: "500 Miles", Sung By Joan Baez

 "Love to Pinky. ♥"

God Bless the song poets who find the words for us.  Your song will forever resonate in our heats, echos of the LOVE that is you.
